Howards End tells the story of the Schlegel sisters, Margaret and Helen, and their cross-class relationships. Forster but I thoroughly enjoyed this one too. I’ll admit that A Room with a View remains my favourite book by E. ![]() I’ve had this book on my TBR for a while and I read it over a couple of sunny days in June which was the perfect weather for reading a Forster novel. As the Schlegel sisters try desperately to help the Basts and educate the close-minded Wilcoxes, the families are drawn together in love, lies and death. Summary: ‘Only connect’ is the idea at the heart of this book, a heartbreaking and provocative tale of three families at the beginning of the twentieth century: the rich Wilcoxes, the gentle, idealistic Schlegels, and the lower-middle-class Basts. ![]()
